While its hard to stay hopeful in prison, especially when u have an LWOP sentence, education can provide meaning and purpose, which can strengthen hope. Dr. Viktor Frankl was right when he said that "meaning" is what produces grit, resilience, & perseverance. Through education I find meaning & purpose by using my education to help others. I've become a teacher to other inmates, a jailhouse lawyer, & consultant to friends & family. I can help others be successful with re-entry and/or getting sentences reduced or conviction overturned so they can be productive members of society. In doing so I defy the label of "irredeemable human garbage" that society has given me with the imposition of an LWOP sentence. I am still useful & meaningful. My life has value. Edovo means so much to me. My facility doesn't offer many programs this tablet is my gateway to bettering myself. With edovo I have access to things like Anger Management and other emotional wellness resources. As a Buddhist this tablet is my only source to scripture but there's so much more. Edovo has helped me with anger management and stress management, as well as helping me get through my day. When I get my tablet in the mornings, I get on edovo and listen to inspirational music and videos to get my day started. Then later I complete 2 or 3 lessons of courses. I am so thankful for Edovo. Edovo is a great platform for us who are incarcerated to learn new skills. The things we learn range from educational to spiritual. There's also wellness and mindfulness courses. I enjoy doing the behavior intervention such as Anger Management and Parenting While Incarcerated. Reentry skills and resources can be found on Edovo as well. Here in North Carolina, every inmate have access to Edovo on the tablets. We spend a lot of our free time learning through Edovo. Every person need to be able to grow using this platform.
